Lighthouse Tour 2015

August 21 st 2015 was a Friday night to remember. At the East end parking lot of Robert Moses members gathered to take a tour of the Fire Island Light House. Walking along the board walks we were surprised NOT to meet any mosquito’s, though all of the experienced beach residents were prepared if necessary.

All the barrier beach communities were represented, even some mainlanders. It was so nice to see everyone that while we walked and chatted we were ignored by the deer that nibbled as we passed them (Frankly some of us missed them!).

Thank you to the light house staff that guided our group through the Fresnel lens exhibit, the boat house, and Lighthouselite2, especially Bob Larosa, Rob and Lynn Dunlop.

And thank you Mother Nature for a spectacular sunset atop the Fire Island Lighthouse. Stormy weather had been predicted and we were prepared to offer a “real life lighthouse keeper adventure” if it rained.

Never tiring of the view, and always needing the exercise, I can’t wait to walk up the 188 steps next summer!
